We call this project a “small challenge” — an intriguing puzzle of aesthetics, engineering, and personal identity. The homeowner, an open-minded and bold individual with a distinctive taste, had a clear request from the outset: both street-facing façades must allow in as much natural light as possible, achieved through the maximum use of windows.
From this vision emerged the idea of a curved staircase wrapping around a corner façade clad in glass bricks. This design serves not only as a spatial solution but also as a striking visual focal point of the entire building. We restructured the staircase’s framework to ensure both safety and architectural proportion. The curved glass brick façade was also meticulously calculated—each block precisely aligned to create a seamless visual effect while maintaining structural integrity. But light comes with heat. The use of glass bricks on the façade presented a major thermal challenge. After exploring various options, the homeowner ultimately chose to apply heat-insulating film over the glass surfaces—an efficient solution that preserved the transparency and material character of the bricks without compromising comfort.
Spanning four floors, the interior is linked by the curved staircase—a standout feature that acts as an emotional spine of the home. The color palette reflects the homeowner’s personal style: warm ivory paired with orange-yellow tones, infusing the space with brightness and energy. The design language throughout is simple, modern, and distinct—faithful to the original spirit of the project: a home bathed in light, clearly reflecting the personality of the one who lives within.
